What to Do When You Are Too Busy to Write Your Book
We spend a lot of time on this blog talking about delay being disobedience. But what happens when you delay because you are genuinely overwhelmed? You may be looking at your life, work, family, ministry, responsibilities, and wondering to yourself, how will I ever find time to write this book?
This is a real challenge many successful Kingdom leaders face. You have built a life of impact, which means you have also built a life of demand. Your phone does not stop ringing. Your calendar is packed. You aren't being lazy. You're not scrolling through social media for hours. You are working. You are serving. You are building.
Yet, the message God deposited in your spirit remains unwritten. The weight of the assignment has not decreased just because your schedule has increased. If God called you to write it, He has already provided the margin for it. The fact that you cannot find it tells me that your time is being managed by your circumstances rather than your calling. Success does not cancel an assignment.
The Difference Between a Full Life and a Misaligned One
There is a profound difference between being busy and being productive. You can be busy doing good things and still be out of spiritual order. We often mistake a full calendar for a fulfilled purpose. But if your schedule is so packed that you have no room for the very thing God told you to do, your life is misaligned.
The question you must ask is not "do I have time?" but "what has God assigned for this season?" Not everything on your plate belongs there. Some of the things you are doing were assignments for a previous season that you have held onto out of habit or obligation. Others are "good ideas" that were never God's idea for you.
When you are misaligned, you spend 90% of your energy on 10% of your actual purpose. Writing a book as a Kingdom writer requires a level of intimacy and focus that busyness tries to suffocate. If you are too busy to sit with the Holy Spirit, the Chief Writing Aid, you are misaligned. Alignment requires you to audit your "yes." Every time you say yes to something God didn't ask for, you are saying no to the manuscript He asked for.

Your calendar reveals exactly what you value and what you are willing to protect. If you look at your last thirty days and see time for meetings, time for gym sessions, and time for Netflix, but zero minutes for the book, you have made a choice.
We often say we are "waiting for things to slow down." But when have things ever slowed down in your life? If the book keeps getting pushed to the "perfect season," that doesn't exist, you are protecting your comfort or your current reputation as the "person who does it all" while postponing your obedience.
Obedience is not a feeling; it is a scheduling priority. You do not need a three-month sabbatical to start. You need a protected fifteen minutes that belongs to God and the message He gave you. When you protect that time, you are telling God that you value His word over your busyness. You are choosing to steward the eternal over the temporary.
Delegation Is Not a Weakness
Sometimes we become overwhelmed because we carry things that we don't need to carry. You are "the strong one." You are the one everyone goes to for answers. Because of this, you are doing tasks that someone else should be handling so that you can do the one thing only you can do: write the book.
Freeing your hands may be the very act of obedience God is waiting for. What can be handed off? Who have you not empowered because you think you can do it better or faster?
Delegation is an act of faith. It trusts that God can work through others so you can focus on the assignment He gave specifically to you. This isn't just about writing; it’s about making the room to write. It is time to release what isn't yours so you can finish what is.

There is no version of your life coming where all your responsibilities vanish and the path to the finish line is paved with effortless ease. The anointing to write is often found in the middle of the mess, not in the absence of it.
Every day you wait for "more time" is a day someone else stays in bondage because the message intended for their freedom is still locked up inside of you. You don't "find" time for things that matter; you make time for them.
