The lack of a publishing contract is not the reason you have not written the book. You're just using that as a shield to hide your disobedience.
You tell yourself that you are waiting on a door to open when the truth is that God already gave you the key and told you to start walking. You have achieved success in your career, you have built a life of influence, and yet you are sitting at the edge of your assignment waiting for a group of strangers in a boardroom to tell you that your message is worthy.
You are constantly checking your inbox for an agent’s response while the Holy Spirit is checking your heart for a "yes." You have convinced yourself that a logo on a spine is the only thing that makes your words legitimate. You are seeking a human stamp of approval for a divine mandate, and in doing so, you have made the industry your god.
Your delay is not a matter of timing; it is a matter of lordship.
If God told you to write the book, then the instruction was to write the book, not to win a popularity contest with a secular or Christian publishing house. You are waiting for validation from a system that is designed to measure profit, while God is looking for an author who is designed for purpose.
The weight you feel in your chest every time you think about that manuscript is not a suggestion. It is the Holy Spirit reminding you that there are people whose deliverance is tied to your obedience. You are essentially telling God that His voice isn't enough to move you, but a royalty check and a marketing team would be.
Stop pretending that you are "waiting on the Lord" for a publisher.
God is waiting on you to stop being afraid of what it looks like to stand on your own two feet with nothing but His Word. You are successful in the world's eyes, yet you are a fugitive from your own calling because you are afraid of being seen without a traditional safety net.
I understand the desire for excellence and the craving for a platform that reaches the masses.
There is a specific kind of comfort that comes with being "chosen" by a major house. It feels like a graduation. It feels like someone finally saw the value in what you have been carrying in secret for years. Many writers feel that without that traditional deal, their book is just a hobby or a good project.
But is the message for your ego, or is it for the Kingdom?
If the message is for the Kingdom, then the delivery method is secondary to the delivery itself. When you prioritize the prestige of a big publisher over the urgency of the message, you are admitting that you care more about your reputation than the reader’s transformation. You are holding the "healing of the nations" hostage.
God does not need a distribution network to get His Word into the hands of the broken.
He needs a vessel that is willing to be embarrassed for the sake of the Gospel. He needs someone who is willing to publish the book even if it only reaches the ten people He specifically assigned to it. The irony is that the more you chase the big stage, the more you distance yourself from the intimate instruction that birthed the book in the first place.
Validation is a drug that leaves you constantly needing more.
If a publisher validates you today, you will need the bestseller list to validate you tomorrow. If the bestseller list validates you, you will need the awards to validate you next year. It is a cycle of spiritual misalignment that keeps you looking outward for what can only be settled between you and God.
The world does not need another polished product.
The world needs a raw, obedient testimony. It needs the word that God gave you in the dark, shared back into the light without the filters of corporate marketability. Your message is too important to be watered down by a committee that doesn't know your God or understand your calling.

So, you can continue to play the "waiting game" and hide your manuscript behind the excuse of seeking a publisher. You can tell your friends at church that you are still "praying for the right doors to open" while you secretly know that the door is already unlocked and you are just too afraid to turn the handle.
Or you can decide today that God's validation is the only one that carries any weight.
You can stop asking for permission to be who God already said you are. You can stop treating your assignment like a business proposal and start treating it like the spiritual warfare that it is. The enemy doesn't care if you write a book; he cares if you publish the word that will set his captives free.
He wants you to stay in the "preparation" phase forever.
He wants you to stay addicted to the research and the planning and the networking. As long as you are waiting for a publisher, you are not a threat. The moment you decide to obey regardless of the publishing route, you become a danger to the kingdom of darkness.
You are not a writer waiting for a deal.
You are a midwife carrying a ministry that is ready to be born. It is time to stop looking at the industry and start looking at the One who called you. Your success in the marketplace has prepared you for this, but your success in the Kingdom depends entirely on your willingness to be seen as a fool for Christ.
Finish the work.
Publish the word.
Trust that the God who gave you the message is more than capable of finding the audience. Your job is to be a witness. The people waiting for your book don't care about the logo on the back; they care about the life in the pages.
If you are ready to stop making excuses and start walking in the authority God has already given you, it begins with a commitment to the process of intimacy and prayer.
You need to break the chains of delay that have kept you stuck in the cycle of seeking human approval. This is not about a book launch; this is about a lifestyle of obedience.
I am calling you to the Birth Your Book Prayer Challenge.
This is where we strip away the noise and the strategies and get back to the heart of the matter. Three nights of prayer and teaching designed to break the spirit of delay and challenge you to decide whose "well done" you are actually living for.
Do not let another year pass with that word still locked inside you.
